MSM is the MSM

The entire NYT discussion is the discussion of choice by the MSM. They would rather take the hits and play footsie with the likes of Charlie Rose, Chris Matthews and Tim Russert than have their sources frogmarched to jail. They view it as providing cover and taking one for the team. You are correct, the real story is the one not being focused on. This is a candle that must be burnt on both ends.

Why are they mainstream? Because most independents, late deciders and uncommitteds get their news from the 3 networks, the newspapers and their car radios.

The MSM could write a great set of articles on the motivations of THEIR sources. Nah

The MSM could write and expose on the terrorists strategies, tactics and how the terrorists use their tools to get around the traditional systems used to catch them. Nah....

The leakers of this story, other older stories and the NYT Tunnel story need to be found, now. The Tunnel story, IMHO, may very well yield some 'sources' and 'information planters' that are politically based and tied to elected officials. Too many are still jacked about the New York City - Homeland Security funds allocation dispute and are now using the tunnel story as the perfect storm.

The timing of the release of the Tunnel story was just too ripe, and all the terror culprits were not allowed to play out their roles and contacts. Really damaging.

Identify the leakers, catch them, place them on trial and if they are found guilty, send them
to Jail.

However, that could take years so... until then... the distributers and PUBLISHERS of this classified information should stop NOW!

The Keller Echo Chamber

Marvin Kalb - The Latest Member Of The Keller Echo Chamber

Hugh, on his radio show Friday, hit the nail on the head. Bill Keller is providing the response script through his friendly interviews. There are now a couple dozen Keller parrots out there, most of whom we will see on today's talking heads shows.

Marvin Kalb sounded like a Keller soundtrack. Even though the WSJ did print the story after the NYT (WSJ is not clean), Gigot asked hard questions and Kalb just had the Keller speech lines.

Kalb couldn't provide an original, coherent response to the question of what public interest was served by the NYT publication of the story.

Kalb also showed that he, like most of the writers in the MSM who stick their toes into the water of national security don't have a good handle on the issue.

The MSM writes about this war and the methods used to fight it like they are preparing a term paper or a research 'assignment', and not the dicey, tricky and dangerous ground it is. Many seem to write for the prize and when we are attacked again, they'll write about the attack without seeing any responsibility of their own.

Why do I say this? Because Kalb, 3 weeks after the NYT SWIFT story was printed , still repeats the Keller line that the there is no evidence that the SWIFT program has been harmed!

Hey Bill, Eric, James (and Marvin), do a Google and read more papers than the NYT.

Another thought to the folks in the MSM. The assets that, in the past were called intelligence, are now the BATTLEFIELDS. War is about the placement and utilization of your assets to capture or destroy the opponents assets. (Limbaugh calls it "killing people and blowing things up".) He is even data with this phrase.

In this new age of technology, where the enemy can give orders a second away and has IMMEDIATE contact to the rest of the world, many of the processes, procedures and assets that passed as intelligence assets in 1990 (or did not even exist) are now Battlefield assets. They are not intelligence assets. Documenting the SWIFT program they way the NYT did was giving away deployments and movements.

Money transfers, cell phone calls, emails, internet posts and encrypted messages in photos on free internet sites are all assets, weapons and vehicles used by the enemy in this war. We destroy air craft carriers and transports before they get into battle so their assets can not participate. We bomb supply lines in a war so that the participants don't have the ammo, tanks, food and fuel.

The NYT has not figured out that the new technology is the primary supply line for terrorists.

This is why MSM'rs like KALB, KELLER, RISEN and PRIEST will get us killed. They are still stuck on the Civil War.

Could The 'Tunnel' Leak Be A Play For Money

Jeers to the NYC Tunnel story leaker...

A really bad possibility... what if the leaker is someone who is in a twist  about the 'NYC Homeland Security funds reduction? 

We have to know who this leaker is.  We are now told that all of the possible suspects in the actual plot  have not yet been captured. Those who were being watched may have now been tipped off.  We may never know who any suspects associate with since it could not play out.

If a politician or some law enforcement person who may have been briefed leaked this to either gain money for NYC or to feel like a big shot with a big story, we need to know now.  This may not be a simple politically appointed bureaucrat like the person who leaked to Dana Priest, but someone much worse.

Oh Yeah.  Manhattan is above ground, but the infrastructure, power grids, phone systems, fiber optics ..... are all underground.  Some systems are several hundred feet below ground.  Remember Chicago, 1992? 

Catch them, put them on trial and if they are guilt put them away for life.

Organize, Contribute And Turnout

This focus of my blog will be to organize, gain contributions for candidates and generate turnout for the fall, 2006 elections in Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Maryland, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and West Virginia. Why these states? Because first,  I own homes in two of them, manage a consulting firm with employees in most of these states and we work in all of them.
 
Secondly, several of these states have no Senate race this fall. For some, like Kentucky, there is not Senator up for election.  Indiana's Senator Lugar has no Democrat opponent, so that is a great help.

Several other Senators have very critical races Senate races such as Ohio (DeWine), Tennessee (Frist's seat) and Pennsylvania ( Rick!).

A friend in Louisville tells me the two Republican's who represent the metro area may have it tough in the house - Northrup and Sodrel.  Also, there is no way on this planet we can let carpetbagging (understatement)  Capri Cafaro buy a seat in Ohio. We stopped her the last election so she fired up the limo and pulled the double-wide to Akron.

For those on state lines, those in congressional districts that have safe seats or those in states where the Senate seats are safe, it is time to give or brethren a hand.

We'll be keeping a log of candidates, tracking fund raising from both side in the critical races, reproducing polls, reprinting the Democrat opponent's yarns and announcing appearances.  (How many times will Harold Ford get a free campaign stop on Imus?)

Get your locals elected first and then let's lend a hand to our seats that are close.
